When building a custom home or remodeling your existing home don’t overlook the powerful impact the right windows can have on your home. Think about what your specific needs are to help you choose windows for your home.
Here are 4 types of windows that will create beautiful, practical and high impact on your home.
Seamless Windows
Otherwise known as trimless windows provide a very modern and clean look to any room. The trim is actually encased within the wall. Because of their clean lines trimless windows create a feeling of openness and serenity. Using large trimless windows on an outer wall can create an organic connection between the inside and outside.
Bay Windows
Bay windows are commonly found in kitchen eating areas and formal living areas. They are a great way to create architectural interest to a room. Bay windows consist of three panes of glass. The middle is parallel to the wall and the outer two are angled allowing for the curvature of the window.
Double Hung and Single Hung Windows
Single Hung windows are very common. The top sash is fixed and does not move or tilt in like the double hung window. However the bottom can be slide up and down. The sashes on a double hung window can tilt in for easy cleaning.
Casement Windows
There are several windows in the casement family.
Casement windows open with a crank handle and the window sash which is hinged on one side swings open away from the home. These windows are best if you want to maximize ventilation in the home.
Awning windows also use a crank to open. They open from the bottom and swing upwards away from the home.
Hopper windows open from the top and swing inward via crank. these windows are mostly used in the basement.
