When searching for home office design tips, craft room ideas, or other guidance as you plan your custom home, you’ll quickly find there is no shortage of inspiration. The possibilities are endless. Your dream home could include a workspace, craft room for everything from collage to crochet, gym/fitness center, bar, game room, theater, outdoor kitchen/dining area, pool, basketball court, climbing wall, or the most inclusive luxury pet spa you could dream of.  Remember, though, that this is your dream home.

To design a custom home that supports your passions:

1. Identify Your Interests and Hobbies

What inspires you? Brings you joy? Helps you forget about the stressful day you just had or prepare for the busy one ahead? What are your hobbies? It sounds like such a basic, simple question – but many people find it hard to answer. Sit with t,, and look at your daily routines. You may realize that it’s essential that you start your mornings with a workout or with meditation. You want to make sure the space is secure (e.g. smart locks, cameras, customized access, etc.) and that any potentially hazardous items are locked away or out of reach. The same goes for your photography studio; you need to protect yourself and household members from fumes and exposure – and you need to protect your pricey cameras from anyone but you!
