Designing the interior of an 8000+ square-foot, five-bedroom, six-bath house is no small feat. Hilari approached it methodically, strategically, and with an intense focus on creating space that is just as practical and convenient as it is inspirational and aspirational.

She starts with the “foundation,” saying, “I have to have a base, a starting point. I always think of wood. The biggest portion of square footage throughout the home is our wood flooring. I want to find the right tone, the right texture that really signifies the feeling of the home. I always start with that.” She moves on to key rooms, such as the master bath, getting a feel for the layout and flow of the home. From there, she and her team begin “layering” elements to strike the perfect balance of form and function.
